One hundred and twenty items printed for the State of Israel Independence Day [1949 through 1960s]. An extensive, rich and varied collection of Haggadot, booklets and reading passages printed for Israel's Independence Day. The collection includes numerous prayer booklets, some printed on behalf of the Ministry of Religion and Israel's Chief Rabbis (R' Herzog and R' Uziel) while others were printed on behalf of biblical institutes, religious Kibbutzim or synagogues (mainly booklets printed for the Great Synagogue of Tel-Aviv); included are also booklets printed abroad (e.g. "Seder Tefila" printed in England on behalf of the Reform Rabbis Council in 1970 or "Seder Tefilot" printed for the Antwerp Jewish congregation). Included are also booklets printed for the holidays by the Yishuv, the Histadrut, IDF and Religious councils of various cities in Israel. The collection also includes booklets with texts concerning the Day of Independence, coloring booklets for children concerning the Day of Independence, song booklets for the Independence Day, entrance-ticket to Independence Day Torch Lighting (1964), printed cardboard cap for Independence Day, typewritten and stenciled leaflets with instructions for Independence Day, and more. Amongst the Haggadot is the "Independence Haggadah" published by the Information Department of IDF General Staff [1952]. The Haggadah was written during reserve duty by the author Aharon Meged, initiated by Ben-Zion Dinur, Minister of Education. Ten thousand copies were printed of this Haggadah which was meant to be read by soldiers on the evening of the Independence Day, however due to objection of the Military rabbinate, the Haggadas were destroyed. Size varies, general condition is good. Some items appear in several copies.
