Lot of 13 cabinet card portraits of men, women, and children, credited to a number of notable photographers working in the Dakota Territory, including: Six (6) portraits by J.C.H. Grabill: Deadwood, South Dakota. All but one include the credit of "J.C.H. Grabill, Photographer," on mount recto and verso, with the sixth including the credit of "The Grabill Portrait Co." on mount recto. Two subjects are identified in period ink on the image, including a mustached gentleman named "Luis Johnson," and a young man that may have the last name, "Sammeli," although this is difficult to discern. The following photographers are also represented: F. Jay Haynes: Fargo, Dakota Territory (1); Charles L. Kersting: Deadwood, Dakota Territory (1); Pollock: Deadwood, Dakota Territory (2); Pollock & Boyden: Deadwood, Dakota Territory (1); H.R. Locke & Co.: Deadwood, South Dakota (1), showing man and woman posed in a studio, with woman identified on verso as "Mrs. Sherwin"; and Locke & Peterson: Deadwood, South Dakota (1), showing a bride presumably posed with her husband. Condition: Cabinet cards in good to near excellent condition. Most with light toning. Kersting image with scattered foxing, light corner/edge wear to mount. Pollock & Boyden cabinet card with small pinholes along top edge of mount and image.
