COLONIAL PERIOD REVOLUTIONARY WAR]. CLINTON, George (1739-1812), Governor of New York . Letter signed ("Geo:Clinton" with flourish) to Colonel [Marinus] Willet, Poughkeepsie, [NY], 28 July 1781. 1½ pp., folio, deaccession stamp on integral address leaf, separated at central fold . Clinton informs Willet that he will immediately transmit the information concerning levies "to his Excellency Genl. Washington." He expresses concern that "none of the Levies in this quarter of the Country have as yet appeared at the Places of Rendezvous" and notes surprise that "greater Exertions...are not made." Explaining that he does not believe that the legislature agreed to pay the levies, he states that the money would come from the Continental Congress "subject to the Orders of the Commander in Chief." -- FONDA, Jelles. Continental Officer . Autograph document signed, Schenectady, [NY], 7 January 1788. 1 p., folio . Fonda has received five pounds New York currency from John Sanders "as he is to have a third share in the lands I will recover from the western Indians." -- PHIPPS, Thomas. Captain Phipps submits a list of "Snow shoos and mogaseens impress d out of the first foot company of militia in Portsm o...in the publick service," during Queen Anne's War. -- HARRIS, John (1726-1791). Autograph letter signed to ANTHONY WAYNE, Harrisburg, 9 August 1787. 1 p., folio, integral address leaf . The founder of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and former Indian trader offers General Wayne land "as testimony of my gratefull heartfelt remembrance, of the many important services you rendered in affecting our glorious revolution." Harris proudly notes that "the rapid improvements made in this Town, have exceeded the most sanguine expectations of my friends." Together four items . (4)
