Color lithographic print from a painting by C. Graham Signed and dated by the artist in the plate. With blindstamp of the Detroit Photographic Co. in lower right. 43x70.8 cm (17x27¾"), on original cardboard mount, in original wooden frame with title carved in lower panel. Rare color print with its period frame, in which it perhaps hung in the bar at The Antlers Hotel. No examples are listed in OCLC, but there is a single listing, at the Denver Public Library, of a wood engraving of the same scene by the same artist, removed from an issue Harper's Weekly, 1886. It was, it seems, a favorite subject of Graham's. The Detroit Photographic Co., later the Detroit Publishing Co., was established in the 1890s and published many color images, known as photochromes, most notably from photographs by William Henry Jackson, who joined the company in 1897.
