Comets & meteorology.- Hill (Thomas) A contemplation of mysteries:contayning the rare effectes and significations of certayne comets, and a briefe rehersall of sundrie hystoricall examples, as well diuine, as prophane, verie fruitfull to be reade in this our age: with matter delectable both for the sayler, and husbandman, yea and all traueylers by sea and lande, in knowing aforehande, howe daungerous a tempest will succeede by the sight of the clowd coming ouer the head, black letter, 64 ff. only (of 80), lacking 4 un-numbered ff. at start, ff.1-8 and 73-76, 3 half-page woodcuts, occasional contemporary ink marginalia, trimmed at foot, affecting some catch-words and signatures, some staining and finger-marking, 19th century half calf, spine gilt and with green morocco label, [STC 13484], By Henry Denham, [?1574]. sold not subject to return. ⁂ Rare, with ESTC recording only three copies (BL, Corpus Christi, Oxford and Trinity College, Dublin). Hill was a poet and writer on gardens (The Profitable arte of Gardening, 1563), astrology, and the interpretation of dreams. He occasionally wrote under the pseudonym Didymus Mountain.
