Autograph letter signed ('Wm Congreve'), to [John] Paltock, 10 February 1722/3, asking him to send him 'notes' on his South Sea dividend, 'I would rather have them than money, because I may not possibly have present occasion for it ...', one page, 4to , on a bifolium with integral address leaf, remains of seal, the verso docketed 'Recd of Mess. Snow & Paltock the notes as within Mentioned ...', signed by Nicholas Mottershed and dated 5 March 1722[/3]. Provenance : owner's blind-stamp in upper margin.
