Immediately following his negotiations with Great Britain to secure American independence, Benjamin Franklin as Ambassador to Paris, spearheaded this French translation of the constitutions of the thirteen original states. The translation was completed by the Duc de la Rochefoucauld, and include over 50 explanatory footnotes by Franklin himself. Also included are the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the treaties between the United States and France, the Low Countries, and Sweden.
