Lot of 20, primarily composed of sixth plate daguerreotypes showing men and women posed together. Grouping also includes three quarter plate daguerreotypes, one half plate ambrotype, two sixth plate tintypes, two sixth plate ambrotypes, one half plate ambrotype, all housed in full pressed paper or thermoplastic cases. Of particular interest is a sixth plate daguerreotype of a remarkably affectionate couple sitting closely together and holding hands. The man wraps arm around the woman's shoulders, and she rests her free hand on his forearm. Other images of note include a sixth plate daguerreotype of an older man with a book seated beside a woman whose hair obscures half her face; a sixth plate daguerreotype showing a young woman wearing a zigzag patterned dress and a man with bouffant hair; a sixth plate daguerreotype featuring a man of supercilious bearing clad in a foliate waistcoat alongside a woman wearing a fur-trimmed dress; and a quarter plate daguerreotype of a pleasant looking couple in dark clothing.
