London: Frederick Warne & Co., 1900. 8vo. 189 pp. With the original designs engraved by Edmund Evans Gilt decorated vellum, backed in brick red cloth, t.e.g. Condition : foxing on endpapers and some in margins, rarely affecting images. deluxe edition issued by warne (a year after the George Routledge & Sons edition) and reprinting Crane’s “Triplets” in a single volume. numbered copy 394 of 500 on large paper limited to the united kingdom ; another 250 copies were issued in the United States. In The Baby’s Opera (1877), Walter Crane introduced the first artistic picture book in which every element of its design created a unified aesthetic statement. Walter Crane’s Picture Book was printed directly from Evans’ original color woodblocks.
