Lot of 8 daguerreotypes and ambrotypes of painted portraits of men and women. Includes four sixth plate daguerreotypes (two men, two women), one sixth plate ambrotype of a woman, two ninth plate daguerreotypes of gentlemen, and one ninth plate ruby ambrotype of a young woman. The ninth plate ambrotype is backed by a printed card from K.S. Porter's Photographic Saloon of Art, Milford, N.H. The sixth plate ambrotype is matted and under glass but uncased. All others housed in pressed-paper cases (two of the sixth plate cases are separated at the spine). Condition: Two of the sixth plate daguerreotypes are lacking a preserver, and the other two have been resealed.
