PRINTED ON VELLUM. 2° (285 x 202mm). Title printed in red and black. Engraved 'King's Library' series title after Blanche McManus and facsimile of 1567 edition title. 17 hand-drawn initials in gold, red, blue, green, and black. (A few tissue guards adhering to leaves at the edges of the upper margins.) Contemporary crushed tan morocco gilt by C.J. Sawyer, the covers with 2 gilt and one black fillet forming the border, the spine divided into 6 compartments by raised bands, titled in gilt in one and dated at the foot, the other compartments decorated with gilt and black fillets, the bands decorated with gilt dots, gilt edges (a few light scuff marks and slight discoloration). Provenance : Sir Weetman Dickinson Pearson Bt., first Viscount Cowdray (1856-1927, armorial bookplate dated 1922) and Annie Cowdray (his wife, bookplate dated 1922); Cowdray sale, Sotheby's, 16-17 February 1948, lot 124. LIMITED TO 350 COPIES, THIS NUMBER 3 OF 12 ON VELLUM, WITH HAND-DRAWN AND COLOURED INITIALS. THE COWDRAY COPY.
