Beschreibung:

DELAMARCHE, Charles Francois. [Meridian line calibrator] . Paris: Delamarche, no.12 Rue de Jardinet, n.d but circa 1806. A unusual calibrator for calculating meridian positions on globes, comprising a terrestrial globe, diameter 1 ½ inches (38mm), overall height 3 ¾ inches (95mm). The globe made up of 12 uncoloured engraved gores (slightly browned, rubbed on equatorial circle), surmounted by a small compass, supported on short metal mount, set in marble base. The base with brass ring graduated into hours of the day and night, the base inset with a circular engraved world map (rubbed), metal pointer extending from the base of the globe mount. An unusual calibrator by Delamarche, who traded from No 13 Rue de Jardinet from 1805-7. At this period Delamarche was joined by his son Felix who also traded from the same address. The address on this globe at no 12, would indicate Delamarche the elder as the probable maker.
