This fine example of Ferrari's first mid-engined V8 road car is a Series 1 model badged as a 'Dino' on the nose, wheels and steering wheel. Chassis number '11944' was sold new in Belgium by Garage Francorchamps on 29th January 1976 and first owned by a Belgian surgeon. The latter kept the Dino until 2008 when it was acquired by a well-known Belgian Ferrari collector, sharing its garage with a 250GT SWB, 365GT 2+2, 275GTB/4 and several other high-end collectibles. He kept the car until 2012. Said to be a great driver with bags of character, '11944' is one of very few Dinos produced in the unusual colour combination of Oro Chiaro Metallizzato (dark gold metallic) with original black 'Boxer' trim below the waistline. The interior is trimmed in a combination of beige and black cloth/leather and the car incorporates all the options available at the time: tinted windows, heated rear screen, air conditioning, electric windows and a sunroof. We are advised that the paintwork is '90%' original and has a wonderful patina. '11944' is described as '100% factory original', with no modifications of any kind, and is 'Dino' badged as it should be. The car has been maintained by exclusively by Garage Francorchamps and the classic Ferrari specialist Gipimotor in Brussels (invoices available). Gipimotor carried out a major service with a new clutch and timing belts in 2008 (at 33,500 kilometres) and a minor service with fresh liquids in 2012. The current odometer reading is 38,000 kilometres. Noteworthy features include new tyres on refurbished rims; a new stainless steel exhaust from X-ost Maranello; original steering wheel re-trimmed by Luppi of Modena; and new steering column switches from Vitaloni. Currently registered in Belgium, the car comes complete with its original tool kit, warning triangle, leather 'Dino' pouch, instruction and service books, and two set of keys. Accompanying documentation consists of numerous invoices, Certificat de Conformité (signed by Garage Francorchamps' Jacques Swaters), Belgian Carte Grise and technical inspection papers for everyday use on normal plates. In addition, it comes with three original documents (not copies) dating from 1976: Ferrari SpA's invoice to Garage Francorchamps; the factory delivery note; and Garage Francorchamps' invoice to the first owner. An original, fully documented, well maintained and little used Dino in a rare colour combination, '11944' has great future potential and thus represents a wonderful opportunity for the discerning Ferrari collector.
