(Design at Home, 2nd June 2018) An early 1970s East German Elastogran or Reuter Product Design lacquered orange moulded polyurethane 'Garden Egg' chair, designed by Peter Ghyczy in 1968, with original black fabric seat cushion inside, approx 84cm deep by 74cm wide. Also known as the 'Seftenberger Ei', due to the city it was produced in, this was one of the earliest known examples of a hinged chair. This iconic Sixties design celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
