Documents India Durbars and Royal Visits 1905-06 Royal Tour of India George. Prince of Wales: 1906 part autograph letter, with envelope, to Major Fritz Ponsonby. The royal letterhead is printed "Prince of Wales's Camp, India." in black. "with much regret, where we spent a delightful & most interesting time. We certainly had very hard work, but if our visit has been a success & it has done some good we are amply rewarded. I think what Sir H. Fowler said about Curzon is quite correct. He may have done some good things but he also made a great number of mistakes & certainly was one of the most unpopular Viceroys India has had for years. Wait till we meet & I can tell you a lot about it. One of his greatest mistakes was his speech at Bombay just before we left + his letter to the Times was about as bad. The envelope, carried in the diplomatic bag is first addressed to St. James' Palace and redireced to Buckingham Palace, is initialled " G" in lower corner. Also 1906 (27 Feb.) an autograph signed letter from The Princess of Wales on her special letterhead titled "Prince of Wales's Camp, India" thanking the recipient for their explanation of all the special buildings in Agra and signed " Victoria Mary" . With the original envelope which was delivered by hand.
