DU FOUILLOUX, Jacques . La caccia . Milan: Antonio Comi, 1615. 8° (158 x 102mm). Woodcut crest of the Viscontis on title, half-page woodcuts including 17 of dogs, some repeated. (Tiny hole on I3, occasional soiling, browning and light spotting.) Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine, red edges (repaired, some spotting and staining).

(Tiny hole on I3, occasional soiling, browning and light spotting.) Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine, red edges (repaired, some spotting and staining). THE ONLY ITALIAN EDITION of a French work first published in the mid-16th-century. Jacques du Fouilloux was a keen and experienced hunter: ‘The Vénerie caused a stir amongst sixteenth century huntsmen, and the numerous editions of it which appeared within one hundred years of the first publication show how its popularity was mantained’. Schwerdt I, p. 154; cf. Thiébaud 294 (first French edition only).
