Includes: Permit to Land Foreign Merchandise, made out to Dickson de Wolf & Co., for landing 10 hogsheads of Brandy, imported from Liverpool. Signed by the Deputy Collector. Dec. 4, 1850. Receipt stub stating At Loy has paid 4 dollars for a mining license, "which entitles him to labor in the Mines One Month." Aug. 2, 1853. Waybill for West's Line of Packets, based in Alviso, California, but leaving from Long Wharf, S.F., made out to Santa Clara Mining Co., for shipping a barrel of something, with a nice woodcut of West's Warehouse. June 23, 1860. Receipt from the Jackson St. Wharf Co., San Francisco, for a week's berthing by the Brig Hidalgo, with a woodcut of a sailing ship. Oct. 5, 1863. Stock certificate for ten shares in the Chico Gold and Silver Mining Co., with engraved vignette and revenue stamp. Oct. 18, 1867. Account statement and receipt from the Pescadero Livery Stable, for 12 rentals of horses, saddles, etc, for a week in Many, 1873, with woodcut vignette of the stable. Printed at the Times Print, Santa Cruz. Receipt for dues paid to the Ocean View Lodge, No. 143, I.O.O.F. [i.e. Oddfellows], Spanishtown, San Mateo Co. Cal. April 1, 1876. Receipt for goods bought of Davis Bros. City Market, Redwood City, over two dozen items purchased in August of 1878, for a total of $75.22.
