Provenance : Hans Albert Einstein; and by descent. Einstein writes only briefly, 'weil die Post ganz infernalisch auf mich drückt', about Mileva's 'house-difficulties' [her Zurich houses were threatened with seizure by the banks]: they want him to take over the house in Huttenstrasse (where Mileva lived), and he is ready to do this, but only through a trust-company, which is 'a trick' to avoid personal responsibility for the mortgage expenses: 'Dies ist nämlich ein Trick, um das Risiko der persönlichen Haftun für die Hypotheken-Schulden zu entegehen'. The problem is that time is pressing, and yet the only alternative is to let the house in Huttenstrasse go, and for Einstein to attempt to look after Mileva and Eduard from the USA. The trust company was eventually established to save the Huttenstrasse house, but its highly involved affairs were to be the subject of much further correspondence, and were only sorted out after Mileva's death.
