EINSTEIN, ALBERT. Autograph letter signed ("Papa") to Hans Albert Einstein, n.p., n.d. [1917?]. 2 pages, 8vo, 220 x 142 mm. (9 x 5 7/8 in.), page 2 with two carefully drawn and labelled problems in plane geometry, some lines of text lightly underlined in purple pencil, tiny tear in one corner, not affecting text . GEOMETRY EXERCISES FROM A NOTED PHYSICIST Einstein queries his teenage son about his activities: "Your industrious letter writing you certainly inherited from your father. How do you spend your time, rascal? Write me sometimes what you're doing now in school and how you like particular subjects. What are you doing in your free time? Are you playing the piano? I have a lot to do this semester and wrote a nice paper since I was in Zurich. How are the food and the heating at home? Have you already become thinner? If anything bothers you or if you are missing anything, do write me. I remember myself very well, at your age, as a high school student in Munich, so I will understand everything you tell me. Do you still dislike reading? Do you have friends you take walks with or do you go by yourself? Do you write to Tetel [Eduard]? Answer these questions in your next letter to me, then the writing will be easier. How is Mama? Ask her if she received the 1000 Marks for Tetel and write me again..." Einstein closes by including two geometrical problems for Hans Albert to solve and, as a postscript, gives his present address as "Haberlandstrasse 5."
