Vintage sleeveless jacket or vest handmade using a jean jacket lined with plaid felt as the basis, extended with panels of darker denim, numerous embroidered decals, patches and symbols affixed, bone or thermoplastic clasps of skull and eye designs. The size is perhaps large to extra large, let us say early Jerry Garcia. Marvelous relic of the 1960s or early 1970s, festooned with the symbols of the flower children, summer of love, acid rock, and psychedelic adventurism. Featured are the Grateful Dead, dancing bears, dancing skeletons, Felix the Cat and his magical hat, marijuana ("Legalize today... get high tonight"), rainbows, and a large patch on the back advising to "Keep on Truckin'..." Purchased by the present owner from a Marin County estate (Marin County, just north of San Francisco, being the refuge of many former hippies and rock musicians from the early days, at least those who can afford it).
