.44RF, 20" barrel, s/n 44831 (1871 mfg). Blued finish, brass frame and furniture, walnut stock & forend. Contemporary engraved receiver with forest, game and hunting scenes. Winchester two-line barrel mark with "King's Improvement" marking on second line. Serial number stamped in block numbers behind trigger. L-shaped 2-leaf rear sight, two barrel bands, saddle ring. Condition: Good. Retains no blue but has an attractive plum brown patina on the barrel that shows some scattered pinpricking and light pitting. Barrel mark remains clear. Engraving crisp. Mechanically functional, good bore that is lightly pitted with strong rifling. Buttstock sanded and refinished, but is numbered 831, matching the rifle. The forend appears to be a replacement that shows crude work on the interior.
