ERASMUS - Declarationes ad censuras Lutetiae vulgatas sub nomine Facultatis Theologiae Parisiensis. Basel, H. Froben & N. Episcopius, 1532, 8vo, later polished calf (rebacked), covers with blind filet border and corner ornaments, sides gilt, red speckled edges, 386-[6] pp. (clear waterstain in outer margin of 1st lvs). Exc. copy.
Editio princeps of Erasmus’ reaction to the Sorbonne’s objections. Their "Censurae" were only published in 1531 and immediately answered by Erasmus in the present work. Each "propositio" of Erasmus is followed by the "Censura" of the Sorbonne and by a long "Declaratio" with Erasmus' defense. Froben mark on 1st and last p. Ref. Erasmus Online 1570. Ind. Aurel. 162.610. Bezzel 700. VD-16 E-2613 (1). Adams E-623.
