A collection of 25 satirical verses, caricaturing the medical world, its characters (midwives, professors, quacks), fashionable fads (animal magnetism, homeopathy, phrenology), and every other aspect. This was only the only book on medicine illustrated by Daumier, though he prepared many individual lithographs on the theme, and these illustrations are considered his masterpiece in the medium of wood-engraving. The author of the text, Fabre, was actually a doctor and the author of a number of serious medical works. RARE IN ORIGINAL PRINTED BOARDS.
