Lot of 2 c. 1940s copies by noted collector Fred S. Lightfoot. First is the scarce portrait by Mathew Brady's studio in Washington, D.C., of Abraham Lincoln on 23 Feb. 1861, the day the President-elect arrived for the inauguration. Lightfoot copies two cartes-de-visite which are stereo halves from the Meserve-Sandburg collection (#69). He notes on verso it was made in 1944. The second is a black & white stereo transparency of a portrait of Walt Whitman. Both are extremely rare in their original form. On thich gray mounts cut to size by Lightfoot. Provenance: The Ed Burchard Stereoview Collection Condition: The original right image on the Lincoln had foxing at the top and upper right which is seen in the copy. The Whitman is overall bright and clear.
