A description of the obsequies conducted in Fano for MARIA CLEMENTINA SOBIESKI (1702-1735), consort of James, Prince of Wales. The Princess had died suddenly in Rome on 18 January 1735 at the age of 32 and four months later, on 23 May, these services were held at the Cathedral of San Paterniano in Fano. The text describes the funeral apparati designed by the Venetian architect Francesco Tasso, who brought with him 7 assistants to execute the enormous task at hand. The huge catafalque and the decorated nave of San Paterniano, the results of Tasso and his team's work, are illustrated in the folding plates. Berlin 3256; Cicognara 1501.
