Cast and chased reverse-P hilt of brass with languettes, the right side featuring a relief splayed eagle with an "E. PLURIBUS UNUM" banner above. The quillon is also a detailed eagle head. Heavy knucklebow engraved with a flower in the center and the sides with repeating chased acanthus leaf designs. Large and detailed eagle head pommel and fruitwood French-style grip with checkered panels and fluted borders. Complete with its original brass scabbard with brass mounts, heavily decorated with repousse foliate scrolls and florals. CONDITION: Blade shows a grey patina with some areas of scattered rust and darker patina, designs show wear. Hilt retains a dark patina. Grip with some minor chipping. Scabbard has traces of silver plating in protected areas and retains a light mustard patina, some minor scattered denting. Fit slightly askew at throat, one minor chip to throat ring.
