Fieldmarshal Viscount Montgomery Of Alamein Autograph manuscript notes on the 25th anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein, entitled "Message from the Army Commander" signed ("Montgomery of Alamein, F.M.") and dated at foot, 20 October 1967, 2 pages, folio These notes were prepared for the meeting at the Royal Festival Hall, London; he expressed concern that the British had lost their fighting spirit and was now confronting a very dangerous foe, the weakness from within. He quotes the words read out when the Africa Star was fastened to the Union Jack and concludes, " ... a young schoolboy stood facing the Union Flag, and on behalf of his own generation affirmed their resolve to carry on the Spirit now handed to them.
