Provenance : Thomas Greene (armorial bookplate); Graham Pollard (bookplate). Second published edition, which was printed first but suppressed. This edition was unedited and held back from publication until after the release of the edited version. In this edition, called the “Francis version”, Ann Francis, the innkeeper at Rude, Isle of Wight whom Fielding satirizes, is named directly. Cross III, p.326; Rothschild 857.
