Figure en porcelaine représentant une femme allongée, Berlin (KPM), après 1918 A Berlin (KPM) figure of a reclining lady (Ruhende), after 1918Modelled by Paul Scheurich in the nude with some fabric draped over her right knee, her left arm resting on some rockwork, on a long oval base, incised 'Scheurich' to the side, 22.7cm high, 41cm long, sceptre mark in underglaze-blue with incised /, impressed 11031, C and Z(?)FootnotesLiterature: Rafael 2018, ill. 22 Exhibited: Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 Paul Scheurich had initially sent the models for this reclining woman, Apollo and Daphne to the Meissen manufactory. The 68-year old Director of Works, Privy Conucillor of Mines Dr. Heintze, returned them to the artist without informing the manufactory's then Commerical Director, Max Adolf Pfeiffer, with the remark that "the manufactory has enough naked figures." All three models were a commercial success for the Berlin manufactory (Rafael 2018, p. 39). See footnote to lot 14.
