Beschreibung:

first edition, with initial blank, small section torn away from outer margin of R4, lightly browned, some water-staining and spotting, a few other small stains, pastedowns removed, later calf, later red leather label to spine, spine ends and corners worn, rubbed, [Bitting p.386-387; Cagle 943 (4th edition); Simon BG 1248; Vicaire 727], small 4to, printed by R.W. for Giles Calvert at the sign of the black Spread Eagle, at the West end of Pauls, 1661. *** The rare first edition. We can trace only 1 other copy at auction (1981), which lacked the appendix. ESTC lists only 4 copies, with only one in the UK (BL). Rabisha was a Cornishman who claimed to have worked for many noble families. The first part deals with pickles, fish, meats and fruit; the second part 'Rare recipes in Cookery'; and the third part preserving, conserving and candying.
