IAN FLEMING TYPED LETTER SIGNED, TO KIT REED thanking her for sending him a copy of her first novel Mother Isn't Dead, She's Only Sleeping ("...I must first of all congratulate you on what will undoubtedly be the Title of the Year..."), commenting on both the typography and the plot, suggesting a few changes including, characteristically, the addition of a "really gruesome toustle" between the heroine and the villain, but complimenting her on the novel's use of performing hens, and her thorough destruction of a city ("...You certainly completed the demolition of St. Petersburg, off which I greatly enjoyed knocking a few inches of stucco many years ago..."), promising to send the book to Cape in case they may wish for the English rights, two pages, folio, headed stationery of Old Mitre Court, Fleet Street, 23 August 1961 A CHARMING LETTER OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO A YOUNG WRITER. Kit Reed (1932-2017) was a prolific novelist who also wrote thrillers under the pseudonym Kit Craig.
