Four issues of The Galaxy, with installments of George A. Custer's "Life on the Plains," New York: Sheldon & Company. George Armstrong Custer's (1839-1876) account of the Indian Wars of 1967-1869 was first serialized, beginning in May 1872 (Vol. 13, No. 3 - not in this group) into 1874. Later in 1874, just two years before his death at the Little Big Horn, it was published as My Life on the Plains. The individual installments in The Galaxy were not numbered. Included here are: December, 1872. Vol. 14, No. 6, pp 751-763. February 1873, Vol. 15, No. 2, pp. 164-177. July 1873, Vol. 16, No. 1, pp. 42-57. February 1874, Vol. 17, No. 2, pp. 149-157. Condition: Most with expected handling wear. Overall very good.
