Four various 19th-Century lacquered-brass monocular microscopes, The first is signed J.SWIFT & SON LONDON . The barrel has a graduated body-tube, a double nose-piece, rack and pinion focusing and micrometer fine adjustment. The oxidised-brass stage has a small graph scale in the corner and a substage condensor. The plano-concave substage mirror is on a sleeve on the main limb, which tilts on an oxidised-brass tripod stand. The two objectives are Swift and 2/3.; AND an unsigned monocular microscope. The barrel has a double nosepiece, rack and pinion focusing and exposed micrometer screw-rod fine adjustment. the stage has a sliding slide holder and plano-concave substage mirror. The main limb is raised on two uprights from a Y-shaped foot; AND a microscope signed JOSEPH LONG 45 EASTCHEAP LONDON . The barrel has an eyepiece and an objective and micrometer fine adjustment. It is connected via a short limb to the main column, which has rack and pinion adjustment, a mechanical stage, substage aperture disc and plano-concave mirror. It tilts on a raised Y-shaped stand; AND an unsigned microscope. The barrel has one objective and is connected via a short limb to the main column, which has rack and pinion adjustment to the oxidised-brass stage, substage aperture disc and concave mirror. The base of the main column is designed to attach to a ferrule on the lid of a case. There is a 32.2cm. wide mahogany case with a ferrule, but they do not match. There is also a large partially-plush-lined, fitted drawer, but no contents. (5)
