(sl. browning, minor foxing, occ. spotting, some ff. at the end of the volume sl. waterstained in the corner of blank margin, 1 sm. hole in f. of part occ. ink underlinings). End of 17th-c. vellum, gilt orn. flat spine, red sprinkled edges (refreshed, pastedowns and flyleaves renewed). Good copy. Rare edition of this popular chronicle by the French historian Nicole Gilles (ca. 1425-1503), revised by Denis Sauvage (ca. 1520-ca. 1587), historiographer of Henri II of France. Ill. with 7 full-page plates (6 genealogical trees and 1 representation of the Six Days of Creation), 4 ill. in-text, oval and rectangular woodcuts showing portraits of kings and numerous initials. The ed. was shared with Jean Macé (some copies bearing his name instead of Corrozet's on title). A former owner glued 5 woodcuts (3 on title) cut from at least 3 unidentified books. Ref.
