First edition, presentation copy of this exceptionally rare source book, inscribed on the title-page, "For the Duke of Northumberland from James Mangles, Fairfield near Exeter Jany 28—1852," and with a presentation label from the author on the front free endpaper. The two maps depict Wellington Strait and Beechey Island.
Rare Book Hub records only one other copy of the 1851 first edition (bound in modern half calf) since the James Carson Brevoort copy was sold at Bangs, New York, in 1890.
