Late 17th-early 18th c Black and white chalk, 14,5 x 28,0 cm, blue laid paper, old attribution "Le Brun", numb. 9 in pen (blue paper strips added at left and right edges). Laid down on passe-partout. Good condition. Dynamic battle scene with soldiers on foot and horseback in front of a Roman camp. While the drawing was formerly attributed to Charles Le Brun (1619-1690), it was probably done by his pupil François Verdier (1651-1730), who drew similar historic scenes in the same technique. Prov.
