A half-length portrait of Freud holding a cigar, inscribed on the lower margin: "Prof. Sigm. Freud with kind regards 1921." "This famous photograph of the founder of psychoanalysis was taken by his nephew Max Halberstadt, and it may be the only existing print made from the original negative. The inscription is unusual in that it is inscribed in English and uses the title 'Professor'"--W.M.
