With 37 original mounted albumen photographs by Francis Frith including the frontispiece (which is on the added title page); plus text leaves & blank protective interleaves. 36 of the images measure approx. 16x22.5 cm (6¼x8¾") or reverse; the frontispiece meaures 15x11.5 cm (6x4½"). Overall 45x33 cm (17¾x13"), loose in original printed wrappers. Rare, complete set of Francis Frith's Sinai and Palestine in the original wrappers, with superb views of Jerusalem, Nazareth, Damascus, Gaza, the Sinai peninsula, etc. This is considered the "best edition" of these images, the photographs rich and gold-toned, "of much stronger quality than those of the first edition" - Gernsheim, Incunabula of British Photography, #175.
