GALLUCCI, Giovanni Paolo (1538-c.1621). Theatrum mundi, et temporis . Venice: Giovanni Battista Somasco, 1588. 4° (240 x 175mm). With the errata. 144 woodcuts in the text, of which 50 with volvelles, folding table. (Bifolia of Ooo bound out-of-sequence but present, dampstaining, more pronounced in the first few gatherings, occasional soiling including on title, the first few leaves with very small loss in the margin, a few volvelles possibly repaired.) Contemporary limp vellum (worn, first gathering with later stitch near the foot). Provenance : ?Birago (indistinct 17th-century title inscription).

Gallucci's atlas is the first to make us of Copernicus's catalogue of coordinates, and presents the 48 maps of the Ptolemaic constellations with striking and original constellation figures.
