First edition of the translation, published the same year as the original Spanish edition in verse ("Breve descripcion del mundo, o Guia geographica", Brussels, L. Marchant), dedicated by the translator to Francisco Antonio de Agurto, 1st Marquess of Gastañaga, Governor of the Spanish Netherlands (1685-1692). Medrano (1646-was a Spanish mathematician and military engineer, director of the Military Academy of Mathematics and Fortification in Brussels from until his death.
