Hooper, 1773-76. 4 volumes only (without the 2 volume supplement), 4° (319 x 233mm.), 4 engraved frontispieces, engraved titles, 39 plates and 339 illustrations (occasional light spotting or light browning), contemporary crimson morocco, single fillet border on sides, flat spines ruled and lettered in gilt, g.e. (spines sunfaded, extremities quite rubbed). FIRST EDITION. Brunet II, 1762: "Edition la plus recherchée de cet ouvrage ..."; Cox III, 422: "... very fine views of cathedrals, churches, abbeys, castles, and ancient remains." With Grose's Antiquities of Scotland (London, 1789-91, 2 vols.), Antiquities of Ireland (London, 1791-95, 2 vols.) and his Military Antiquities respecting a History of the English Army from the Conquest to the present time (London, 1801, 2 vols.), the 3 works uniformly bound with the above. (spines sunfaded, extremities quite rubbed). FIRST EDITION.
