Lot of 6. Confederate Provision Return for the 7 day period commencing May 14th through May 20, 1864. Unidentified Company and Regiment, but signed by "G. A. Wilson Capt. & ACS" below the notation "I certify on honor that the above return exhibits an accurate and true statement of the active number of men to be fed and the above rations are absolutely necessary for the subsistence of the troops above mentioned." Copy of a letter signed S. Draper and written to U.S. Secretary of State William H. Seward. 2pp, 8 x 10 in., "New York." May 3 [1861]. Draper alerts Seward that, "The blockading squadron should know that, from positive information, we learn that a heavy shipment of arms is now expected at the port of Mobile and New Orleans from Belgium...." The author continues with a request for the Federal Government to persuade Canada to sells arms to the States by making a application on behalf of Ohio. Muster roll, ca 1862, listing 85 men of Company D, 11th Regiment, Rhode Island Volunteers. Four soldier letters with varying content. One letter written in 1863 On board the Steamer Armada Mississippi River with description of river scenery, activities, and contraband reference; another letter dated July 1863 from Camp Adirondack Washington D. C.; a letter on printed regimental letterhead from the 14th Regiment New-Hampshire Volunteers with reference to Manassas; and an 1864 officer letter written from Head Quarters 3d Div. 18th A. C. In the field, Nov. 16th 1864 with references to senior officers. Condition: Muster roll creased along the folds and almost completely separated along horizontal seam.
