.50 caliber, 33.75" octagonal barrel, no S/N. Converted from flintlock. Blade front sight with notch rear sight. Brass buttplate, triggerguard, side plates, and ramrod pipes. Carved cheek piece with inlay. Top of barrel marked with illegible signature and "69NF". Brass inlay between side plate marked "E. Smith" in script. Heart-shaped inlay on wrist marked "1828". Cheek piece inlay marked "August 8, 1828" in script. Lockplate marked "A.W. SPIES, WARRANTED" in two lines. Checkering design on wrist. Condition: Fair condition. Barrel has a plum patina with some wear on raised edges and muzzle. Deterioration and pitting near hammer with replacement cone. Lower butt moulding broken. Stock has other dents and marks consistent with age. Ramrod pipes have solder remnants. Bore fair.
