General title printed in red and black, section title for the second part, Preface and List of Subscriber's (both supplied from another copy). 54 engraved maps (4 folding, 50 double-page) and 5 diagram charts tipped-in (three folding maps with few separations/short tears along folds, the second with dustsoiling along fold, map 5 with small marginal hole touching border, some pale mostly marginal dampstaining from map 37 to end, folding map 53 closely trimmed at sides shaving text). Contemporary mottled calf (rebacked, some light wear). A fine copy of this maritime atlas, with seventeen charts relating to the Americas. The second part, A General Pilot... with a set of sea-charts is supplementary to the first. This atlas was a rival to the English Pilot , but unlike that five-volume work, the Atlas maritimus contained the globe in a single volume, and described the western and southern coasts of America, which the English Pilot omitted.
