HASTINGS, WARREN. Autograph letter signed ("W. Hastings") to Lt. Col. Watson, "Council Room," n.d., one page, 4to, integral address leaf (a bit stained ), regarding Watson's proposed service to "ye Bd." (the Board)--PALMERSTON, HENRY JOHN TEMPLE, Third Viscount . Engraved document signed ("Palmerston") as Foreign Secretary, London, 30 August 1850, one page, folio, a passport for Rear Admiral Beaufort and his daughters--WILBERFORCE, WILLIAM. Autograph letter signed ("W Wilberforce") to John Bowdler the elder (1746-1823 -- see DNB), "No. 8 Downing Street," London, 17 February 1817, 3 pages, 4to, remnants of mounting on verso of second leaf : "...I must beg you to bear in mind, that I have been near 37 Years in public Life...I may probably prove the Instrument of good, by putting into their Hands a publication [one of Bowdler's religious pamphlets] so admirably fitted to impress the cultivated Understanding & the feeling and generous Heart..."--BRIGHT, JOHN (1811-1889, statesman and orator). Three autograph letters signed to different recipients, London and Rothdale, 1865-1884, together 9 pages, 18mo & 8vo, with one envelope . 4 June 1865 letter: "...The Church is the great source & cement of Toryism in the Country -- & it can only be grappled with by the democracy, whose hand will some day be felt rudely upon it, I doubt not." 6 May 1884 letter: "...I hope our Govt. & Countrymen may so conduct themselves, that whether we remain in India for a long or for a short time -- they may do something to compensate the countless millions for the sufferings & the humiliation which conquest has inflicted upon them..." -- And a letter signed ( mounted ) of Charles James Fox, an autograph letter signed of Admiral Augustus Keppel (dated 4 November 1783, "...I much fear by what I have been told, that you are liable to Misinformation & Imposition If you reply upon the jew that is pushing himself forward for your confidence..."), and an autograph letter signed of Edward, Lord Thurlow, Lord Chancellor.
