We went for a picnic at Pott Shrigley on a lovely Summers Day. as we drove along in the wagonette Mother would say that we hoped our favourite field wouldnt have cows in it and all the ladies declared that they couldnt eat those delicious sandwiches with cows round them, and whatever should we do if there was a bull aswell, when we got there the gate was open, so everyone helped to unpack the food and tie danny to a tree. It was June and after tea We gathered bunches of Wild Roses and honeysuckle and listening to the Cuckoo calling. Coming home through the quiet country lanes Mother, aunt mary & aunt frances softly sang. Now the day is over, Stars begin to peep - Birds and Beasts and Flowers, soon will be asleep and so were George and I and the year was 1906.
