Hindenburg Disaster-- TWO ITEMS RELATING TO LZ-129 HINDENBURG; i) Photographic postcard, depicting an ocean scene viewed from a Zeppelin, addressed to "A. Thasler | Lakehurst N.J. | Airship Station | Airship Hindenburg", German postage stamps, cancelled with a "Paquebot" stamp dated 10 May 1937, burnt with loss of about one third of the card; together with a typed letter signed by Albert Goldman, Postmaster, returning two postcards addressed to Thasler and explaining that both have been endorsed with Paquebot stamp impressions, one page, New York, 17 September 1937; also a typed letter signed by K.H. Royter, "To Whom It May Concern", confirming that these two postcards were aboard the Hindenburg and recovered from the debris after the disaster, and that one of these postcards "was purchased from Mr A. Thasler of Friedrichchshafen, Germany, direct through the undersigned [ie Royter] who was in charge of the Philatelic Mail Department of the airship HINDENBURG", one page, headed stationery of F.W. von Meister, US representative of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin, New York, 9 November 1937 ii) Envelope, stamped and franked, official "Luftschiff Hindenburg" stationery, German postage stamps, cancelled with a date stamp, Frankfurt Flug- und Luftschiffhafen Rhein-Main, 3 May 1937, circular red cachet stamp ("Deutsche Luftpost Europa-Nordamerika"), with the signatures of three crewmembers of the Hindenburg, Captain Max Pruss, the first officer Albert Sammt, and navigator Franz Herzog, also later signed by Arthur Falk, collector and chairman of the Stamp Institute of America; together with a certificate of authenticity also signed by Falk and dated 16 October 1984 ink on paper
