[History - France] DORLÉANS, Louis Le Banquet et apresdinee du conte d'Arete, où il se traicte de la dissimulation du roy de Navarre, & des moeurs de ses partisans. Jouxte la copie imprimée à Paris, G. Bichon, Small 8vo: [i.e. 261]-[pp. (dampstained in the beginning, occ. foxing). 19th-c. green morocco, covers with blind frames, spine with raised bands with blind fillets, gilt roll-stamps on the turn-ins and edges, gilt edges (spine sl. faded, small wears on the turn-ins and edges, corners bumped, cropped). Edition, perhaps printed in Antwerp (Brunet), of this work against Henri IV and the insincerity of his return to catholicism. The jurist and lampoonist Dorléans (1542-1629), was banned by the King and took refuge in Antwerp. He came back to Paris after 9 years and was imprisoned.
