An original case of 12 bottles, filled on Febuary 1st, 1973, Bin #638, bottled for The House of Glunz, Hoffman Distilling Co., Lawrenceburg, Anderson County, KY, DSP-KY 112, good level, orignial shipping carton worn and stained, sealed until inspection
"Since 1888, The House of Glunz has operated as a Merchant Bottler from the same location in downtown Chicago. Over the years we have bottled wines, beers & fortified wines in the cellar and had many spirits bottled for us. It was my grandfather, Louis Glunz II, who made his mark with Bourbon. He was known as the best Bourbon palate in Chicago. People frequently brought him samples to assess the quality of barrels they wanted to buy. On a fateful visit to the Hoffman Distillery, he found something very special. He bought the young barrels and took a chance, having the distillery keep them in the rickhouse and bottle them at 20 years old. The gamble paid off, the resultant whiskey was possibly the first 20-years old bourbon made for commercial production and most certainly the best in it’s class!At the time, Hoffman was the smallest distillery in Kentucky and later became the Van Winkle Distillery." - Christopher Donovan, Fourth Generation Owner of the House of Glunz, Chicago
