Engraved map of the Holy Land, contemporary hand-coloring in outline, image 375 x 500 mm (473 x 561 mm sheet). Decorared with large floral and fruit garland draped across the top, two putti holding up a banner containing a Latin verse, figures of Moses with the Ten Commandments and Aaron in the lower left corner. English text on verso. (Some minor marginal staining). The map was first published in Christian van Adrichom's Theatrum Terrae Sanctae in 1590, and shows Palestine divided into the twelve tribes, from Sidon to Alexandria.
